A rewarding tour that takes you along the Kumano Kodo trail, the shrines along this trail are some of UNESCO’s finest and beautiful heritage sites and a sacred place for Japanese people.

You’ll start this journey in nature and finish in the city. At the start, you’ll hike the pilgrimage trail to Kumano Hongu Shrine. Walking through beautiful forests and up ancient cobbled stone steps. Afterward, you will take a boat trip along the Kumano River. This trip will take you to Hayatama Taisha Shrine, a truly memorable experience. Also, you will visit the Nachi Taisha Shrine and Nachi Waterfall before your stay in Nakanoshima Island.

After your tour in the Kumano-Kodo trail, you will travel to Ise city and visit Ise Jingu Shrine, where is the heart of sanctity in Japan. Also, explore the Ise-Shima area including their famous pearl industry, driving through the scenic Ise Shima Skyline.

At the end of your tour, you will transfer to Nagoya before departure.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Koyasan

Upon arrival in the morning, you will meet with your tour guide before driving to Koyasan. Afterward, you'll visit the great Pogoda in Danjogaran. Then you will visit Kongobuji Temple and Banryutei Garden. Furthermore, you will be introduced to the legacy of Kobo Daishi, one of the most highly revered monks, who founded Shingon Buddhism in Koyasan area. Finally, you'll finish the tour at his mausoleum, and end your tour at a temple for a 1-night stay.

Day 2

Kumano Kodo Trail

You will start your morning with meditation, followed by a Buddhist vegetarian breakfast at the temple. You will start the Kumano Kodo Trail by witnessing the picture scroll procession (only in Nov), then you will do the first part of the hike along the trail. You'll finish the day by witnessing the Nonaka Shishi Dance (only in Nov) after lunch, in the end, you will be transferred to your Ryokan.

Day 3

Hike to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine

Start the day by driving to the Fushiogami-Guchi bus stop. Then you'll begin your hike towards Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, one of the most sacred shrines in Japan.

Day 4

The Sacred Shrines of Kumano Kodo

Today, you'll make your way to two out of the three most sacred shrines of the trail, Kumano Hayatama Taishi and Kumano Nachi Taisha. You'll start the day with a boat trip to the first shrine. Afterward, you make your ascent to the second, up the cobbled stone steps of Daimonzaka.

Day 5

Travel to Ise

Drive 2hrs to Ise city. You'll start the day by visiting Ise Grand Shrine, a colossal complex that is on the outskirts of Ise and is considered to be a city in itself. After visiting the ancient streets in the Shrine complex, make your way to your hotel, where you'll have dinner.

Day 6

Ise & Shima

Today, you'll visit the site where pearls were first harvested, on Mikimoto Island but first. Also, visit Futami Okitama Jinja and the quaint Married Couple Rocks opposite. Then you will have lunch at an Ama restaurant, taste the local specialty Ise Lobster & Abalone, and chat with Ama ladies. In the afternoon, you'll be driven the Shima, you'll visit a temple and have panoramic views along the way.

Day 7

Travel to Nagoya

In the morning, you'll be driven to Nagoya. You'll check into your hotel and then have the day free to explore at your own pace.

Day 8

NGO Departure

When the time comes, you'll be driven to the airport for your departing flight.
