Beginning in Tokyo, you’ll explore this dazzling metropolis and intriguing city culture. Despite its skyscrapers and sky trains, you’ll delve into the ancient culture and traditions of this city as it sets the tone for your Japanese adventure.

Then you’ll move on to Hakone, the famous hot spring town near Mount Fuji. Moreover, you’ll learn about making Sake in Takayama and visit the Miyagawa Morning Market. Moving on from Takayama, you’ll visit the UNESCO World Heritage village of Shirakawa-go before Kanazawa.

Kanazawa will deliver treasured attractions and former Samurai homes. Next, you’ll arrive in Kyoto, a modern city that offers a tantalizing window to the past. Also, you’ll continue on discovering the deer park in ancient Nara and the World Heritage Sites in Uji.

Afterward, visit the stunning castle at Himeji before heading to Hiroshima. Furthermore, you will explore the sacred island of Miyajima. At the end of your tour, Osaka will be your final stopping point. Explore street lively streets of Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Tokyo

Today, you will arrive at Tokyo NRT airport via an international flight. Upon arrival, you will make your own way to your hotel on the bus. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day will be free for you to explore the city from your centrally located hotel.

Day 2

Explore east Tokyo

Today after breakfast, you'll meet your guide to explore the city center of Tokyo. Your day will begin with a walk down Nakamise Street, a 200-meter shopping street lined with shops dating back to the Edo Period. At the end of the street, you'll reach Sensoji Temple, one of Tokyo's most colorful temples. You'll then head to the Hamarikyu Garden before having a break for lunch. After lunch, you'll learn all about the history of Tokyo at the Edo Museum and later visit Akihabara Electric Town.

Day 3

Tour in West Tokyo

Today, you'll head out once again with your guide to explore the wonderful city of Tokyo. Your day will begin with a visit to one of Tokyo's, if not Japan's, most iconic attractions, Meiji Shrine. Covering a total area of 70 hectares, the shrine is surrounded by an iris garden and forestry. Next, you'll visit one of the most outrageous shopping districts in the city, Harajuku. After a break for lunch, you'll continue to the Nezu Museum and finish the day at the famous Shibuya Crossing.

Day 4

Travel to Hakone (Mt. Fuji)

This morning after breakfast, you'll travel to the Hakone area, the famous Onsen (hot spring) town close to Mount Fuji. After arriving at the train station, you'll head straight out to tour the area beginning with the Hakone Open-Air Museum, the first of its kind in Japan. After a short break for lunch, you'll head to Lake Ashinoko, a crater lake formed after an eruption over 40,000 years ago. You'll finish the day with beautiful views over the surrounding area by taking the Komagatake Ropeway.

Day 5

Travel to Takayama

After breakfast, you'll catch your train from Hakone to Takayama via Nagoya. The journey will take around five hours in total, and you'll arrive in Takayama in the early afternoon. Before heading to your hotel, you'll visit a local sake brewery which has been using traditional methods to create high-quality rice wine for over 200 years. Here, you'll learn about the production of sake and enjoy a tasting before heading to your hotel for dinner.

Day 6

Day tour in Takayama

Today after breakfast, you'll head out to explore the Old Town of Takayama. Your day will begin with a visit to the Miyagawa Morning Market, the biggest of its kind in Japan. You'll then explore Takayama's main walking street through its Old Town. After lunch, you'll learn all about Takayama's famous festivals at the Lion Dance Exhibition Hall and the Takayama Yitai Museum. You'll finish the day with a lesson on how to play a traditional Japanese instrument from a master.

Day 7

Travel to Kanazawa via Shirakawago

This morning, you'll catch a bus from Takayama to visit the UNESCO World Heritage village of Shirakawa-go, a Japanese mountain settlement in what was once considered a wild and unexplored region. Today, you can experience the culture and traditions that live on in Shirakawa-go. In the afternoon, you'll transfer to Kanazawa city by bus in the afternoon. Upon arriving and checking into your hotel, you'll have the rest of the afternoon to relax.

Day 8

Explore Kanazawa City

Today, you'll get to know Kanazawa by some of its most treasured attractions. You'll begin the day by visiting the former restored home of the Samurai family of Nomura with its beautiful garden. Next, you'll make your way to Omicho Market, Kanazawa's biggest fresh food market. Next, you'll learn about Kanazawa's long history of golf leaf production, visit the Higashi Chaya District and finally, the Kenroku-en Garden.

Day 9

Travel to Kyoto

This morning, you'll take the express train to Kyoto city, your next destination on this wonderful 15-day adventure. You'll arrive at lunchtime and after some free time to get acquainted with your new surroundings, you'll visit Fushimi Inari Taisha, one of Kyoto's most sought-after attractions; it is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, an iconic image of Japan. Next, you'll visit the Gion district, Kyoto's entertainment and Geisha district.

Day 10

Cooking Class & Kyoto Tour

This morning you'll venture out on a guided tour of Kyoto's top food spots where you'll pick up ingredients that you'll take back to a cooking studio. With your experienced chefs, you'll learn how to make a typical Japanese dish. In the afternoon, you'll visit some of the UNESCO World Heritage spots in Kyoto city. You'll begin with the 17th-century Nijo Castle, followed by the Zen Buddhist temple of Kinkaku-ji and finally, you'll visit Ryoanji Goryonoshitacho.

Day 11

Excursion to Uji & Nara

Today, you'll travel by train to Nara and Uji, a short distance from Kanazawa. Upon arrival, you'll visit Nara Deer Park. Here, you'll witness over a thousand deer roaming in the park who are very tame and unbothered by visitors. Next, you'll visit UNESCO-listed Todai-ji Temple, one of the most impressive sights in Japan and a historic monument of Ancient Nara. After lunch in a traditional local restaurant, you'll visit Byodo-in Temple before returning to Kyoto.

Day 12

Travel to Hiroshima via Himeji

Today after breakfast at your hotel, you'll check out and travel to Hiroshima by bullet train, making a stop a Himeiji city on the way. In Himeiji, you'll visit the castle of the same name which is one of the few original castles from the feudal age of Japan. After another short train journey, you'll reach Hiroshima, your next destination. Before checking into your hotel, you'll head to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum in the park to pay your respects to those who lost their lives here.

Day 13

Excursion to Miyajima

Today, you'll lave Hiroshima behind for the day to visit the UNESCO World Heritage spot known as Miyajima Island. You'll take a train and short ferry to reach the island and upon arrival, you'll visit one of the island’s great landmarks, Itsukushima Shrine. After a break for lunch, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view over the island and surrounding area as you climb to the top of the Miyajima Ropeway. If you're feeling energetic, you can climb a further 1km to the summit.

Day 14

Travel to Osaka

Today, you'll take a bullet train back to Osaka city from Hiroshima. The short journey is no longer than 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, you'll head straight out into Osaka's centre to explore street lively streets of Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori. The former is home to hundreds of unique clothes shops and homeware stores and the latter, Dotonbori, is where you'll want to head to try some of Osaka's best street food. In the late afternoon, you'll check into your hotel.

Day 15

Departure from Osaka (KIX)

Bid farewell to Japan! When you're ready after breakfast, you'll take a bus from your hotel to KIX airport for your departing flight.
